Where to try out pedals in Los Angeles / Orange County

  1. Title says it all. I think 1 hour trying pedals in a store would be better than the many hours I spend looking at gear online :D but GC and Samash are often slim on their bass pedal options.

I'm thinking of getting an octave pedal and I think I've narrowed it down to the Aguilar, EBS, or MXR. Based on online reviews it seems like which one tracks best is based on the user, whether the bass is active or passive, and other effects in the chain.

There are always more dirt pedals I'd like to try.

  2. If you want to come down to san diego, hit up bass san diego and/or pitbull audio. Pitbull Audio has tons of pedals and will gladly let you noodle through a bunch of different options....

True Tone Music in Santa Monica, a dangerous place if you're willing to splurge.

The Amp Shop/Bass Exchange in the valley somewhere, (they've moved since I was last there).

Time Warp Music in Mar Vista on Venice Blvd. smaller selection but mostly used, so you never know what you'll find.

Guitar center has a good selection as well. I frequent West LA GC and they usually have a lot in stock, new and used.

  4. There's a couple places right off the top of my head. I'd check out Caveman Vintage Music in Lincoln Heights, Amp Shop Bass Exchange in North Hollywood or Future Music in Highland Park. They are always have really cool, have unique used gear and are really friendly.
