Where's the SVT vs. V4 thread?

I thought the SVT's were like a hundred pounds? 20 pounds isn't a big difference at all.

Actually, the shape of the SVT and side handles makes it a wash as far as I'm concerned. They're both full of sweet sounding transformers so I'll gladly lug either one.

I've been doing a lot of single (8ohm) cab gigs, so the V4B has been getting a lot more gig time of late.

That's true, I always forget the V4 lacks the side handles because I keep mine in a road case (which brings the weight into the SVT range anyways). Carrying it by just the top handle was a pain, but allowed you to carry more with the free hand.

I've owned a vintage V4B and have used plenty of vintage SVTs and I prefer the SVT. The extra weight isn't an issue. The tone and extra power do it for me. If I could afford a nice SVT now I would grab one and sell my 100 lbs Peavey Classic 400. I just make sure I have someone help me move it.....

I own and use an older v4b and a new svt classic. I prefer the new classic as the bottom end is so much tighter, meatier and punchier. The v4b will go loud enough but the low end will break up to easily. The v4b is still a great amp though and i will never sell mine.
