EDIT: if the set has to "up-scale" to 3840 x 2160 i think i'll wait until the source material is already 4k. :/

I agree with this. It's not worth paying the premium for a 4k TV when the source is not widely available.

I actually think that until 4k streaming is widespread, 4k TV is going to be stagnant. I just don't see people moving to yet another form of physical media for movies, just so they can get a marginally improved picture. When it gets to the point where you can stream 4k of whatever you feel like watching at the moment, then 4k will take off. Until that happens, the premium for 4k makes no sense, IMHO.

Another reason to wait is that in order for a TV to upscale from 1080p to 4k, it has to interpolate the pixels. This requires a lot of processing power, especially with the number of pixels and the refresh rate of 120Hz. If you get a lower end 4k TV, the upscaled image could very well be worse than on a regular 1080p TV.

When you go to a retail store to look at TVs, they only send 4k signals to 4k TVs, to avoid this being apparent. They also show slow moving images, because lower end TVs can suffer from appearing blurred with fast moving images.

This is, IMHO, another good reason to wait for the technology to catch up.

We don't even get many High Definition broadcasts to take advantage of our HD Tvs, let alone anything higher!

Seriously, what are you gonna watch in 4k on it?

I recently got s new HD big screen, came with 3D. I will never ever use it,hate those glasses, stupid. But try buying one without it lol
Now it's curved screens and 4k. Which is great, coz people like me can get plain flat screens in boring HD for next to nothing!

To answer the OP, both TVs probably have the same screen, made by Samsung.
