Which Ampeg 810?

I'm back asking stoopid questions. Here, I hope to hear which Ampeg 810 cabinet I should acquire.

I am getting rid of some stuff (115 Mesa RR cab, 215 Mesa RR cab, old Fender cab, homemade cab, VT22) and keeping the V-4 and MTI SVT. I have never, ever used an Ampeg 810 cab. I have adored the sound on many occasions.

I am told the particle board units are not ideal. I've heard "Heritage" and "810e" are good. I'd rather not pay $1400 but will if I have to.

Please advise me on which Ampeg 810 cabs sound best, and which ones have plywood.

It's going to depend on the sound you want. Some prefer the Heritage and some prefer the modern 810E. @JimmyM will tell you the difference.

Actually I find it hard to believe your selling the Road Ready 215.

They are not particle board, but OSB. Distant relatives, but not the same at all.
So much is true that the thick OSB enclosures are stiffer and not worse from an acoustic point of view, rather the opposite.

Bringing back this old post.

Theres a 1974 810 on the local market for a good price. Do I NEED it? No. Do I have the space for it? Yes. I have a 90s (in superb condition) and 00s 810 (normal wear) cab already. Would I use the 74 cab? Possibly just for recordings.

Opinions?

Buy it and do a shootout here comparing the three.:D

In that video posted of diff cabs, my favorite was the 74, so theres that. ;)
