I voted for the Lakland, but honestly, the Warwick is just as good. It simply has a different neck profile and feel.

Which bass for gospel?

Not needed but it does come in handy. The session I did - I needed to drop tune for a song (Eb). I'm a massive 'old school' tone guy, but if I had to gig those songs live I would have used a 5er with flats - without question.

Ready for a Miracle - was just easier drop tuning the whole bass for a song.

Since you like the neck on the warwick better, its better chiuce for you imo. Otherwise theyre both good basses really.

I don't really understand why a certain bass is or isn't good for gospel. Doesn't make much sense.
I'd go with the Lakland between these two. Do keep in mind it's a 35" scale in case that's physically straining for you.
It does seem like a lot of the gospel players have gone to the Carvin SB5000/5001. In the same price range as these and it will be a custom build to your specs. I'd check that out.

I've played just about everything at church. The only bass I've had that multiple sound men have raved about are my SB series Carvins. But like others have said, as long as it has a b string its already 99% there. I've owned a 5502 and loved it as well. It's up to you. Keep in mind it's a 35" scale.
I'd go with the Lake. It can drop the funk and still has enough clarity cut through and sound agressive if you're doing "rock" oriented stuff.
I use an LTD B206, Peavey Fury V and if I want old school, I have a Squier Precision Special with BassLines. Just like the best bass for metal, there is no best bass for gospel except the one your playing.
Maybe I should define gospel a little better. I'm talking about stuff you would hear on the gospel radio stations. Stuff like Andrew Gouche plays, just not as crazy haha.
You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you buy the bass you think you "should" have. Tone matters, but it can be adjusted through effects, amp settings, and the sound guy. The most important thing when choosing a bass is that it's comfortable, fun to play, and just feels right. You can't get that from other people's advice.
I'd generally recommend the Lakland over the Warwick, but only if you've played enough Laklands to be confident that it'll be comfortable.

Mosrite branded some of its guitars under the brand name of "Gospel" with a cross logo at one point in hopes of selling to more church players... I'm not sure if they ever made any basses, or if the guitars were any holier than the Ventures ones!

I've seen both played in many, many churches. This is really all about which one you like best and which tone and form factor suits you.
Warwick: 34" scale, closer string spacing, thick neck.
Lakland: 35" scale, 19mm spacing, flat neck.
You can't go wrong either with either of these.
