which bass preamp pedals have cab/speaker simulators?

I'm curious on the need for the SIM.
is it for going direct to the board for live performance or recording. most cab Sims are simple preset filters which can be emulated with a multiband eq if you understand the curves of whatever speaker your emulating. likewise the major advantage to cab Sims is for guitar with distortion or bass with distortion and yes the simple low pass filter spoken about on some units is all that's needed. it's a simple low pass filter that cuts everything above 5k to eliminate the nassle ear piercing sizzle or high end caused by distortion. most cab emulators are recreating the common bass bump at 100Hz and the common midrange cut which is the annoying artifacts of real speakers anyways. software emulation also emulates the frequency response of common microphones and on axis and off axis microphone placement and is just as annoying to get a decent mix without goober sounding phase artifacts which makes recording real cabinets troublesome. sorry to sound negative but I've used a fair amount of emulators and found the good old direct signal the best. unless if course distortion plays in and a 5k 4k or 3k filter is fine depending on how "dark" of a speaker you want to emulate

Likewise external hardware based emulators for live performance line 6 has a very good collection of curves used in multiple products. either rack mount, pedal based or built in presets on combo or stand alone heads.
for recording a company called native instruments has few products with software emulation guitar rig being the most well known.
and another company called ik multimedia has created a few software products including bass amp specific software. and many others amplitube being the most well known. ik multimedia has done

I believe they have a package that incorporates all the guitar and bass amp packages in one. the collection of effects and head sims is money well spent. and software is unfortunately the best way to go for home recording.

The VMT doesn't have a speaker sim, but you can roll off the high end by turning the "era" knob down. I think it sounds pretty good direct.
Hello I have the Melvin Lee Davis preamp so what you're saying is that the amp and cab sims only work when you're recording not live. And the preamp box won't keep (store) the settings i do in the editor?
