Which bass should I buy?

A bit more info about your experiences with basses, what style you play, etc..
Would help us suggest you a bass.

I would guess you're torn because you like the tone and feel of all of them? Give us a clue about what style of music you play and what famous player's tone/sound you like and then people may be able to help
+1 Buy a REALLY nice P bass and then never play another type of bass again and you won't know waht you're missing. Just keep repeating: Jamerson, Dunn, Kaye, Jamerson, Dunn Kaye......
I like the Jazz, Precision or Stingray. I played a Precision for quite a while. It's hard to argue with it for that versatile sound. One of the best feeling I ever played was a Jazz. And the Stingray, well, it's a Stingray - very cool bass.
I guess I didn't help much.

Hard to choose. Each bass sounds absolutely different. Choose whatever you like most for whatever style of music you're usually playing.
Go to local music shop, try out every bass they have, buy the one you like best. Don't ask us for our opinions.

I personally hate P-basses. I have never played one that sounded right or felt right.

Or he could've been an industry "mole" doing a poll (with the standard available responses) to guage the current mood and tastes of the market..
This is a bit like asking people to tell you what you're favorite color should be. No one can tell you what you will like as much as YOU. Especially when dealing with 4 choices and having 3 be so completely unique (Jazz and Jag sound almost identical). I will however give you my favorites in your list, in order of my preference.
1) Jazz
2) Precision
3) Stingray
4) Jaguar
IMO, as long as we are talking MIA Fenders, the Jaguar doesn't really belong in your list. Every MIA Jazz I've ever played beats out every Jaguar I've played. If you have the money to go MIA, I would get an MIA Jazz. The P is just a great everyday bass. It doesn't do much in the way of versatility, but what it does works for so many situations. The Ray is, well the Ray. You could say the same thing about the Ray as I said about the P-bass. Not the most versatile, but the tones it does have are wondeful and work in many contexts, arguable even more than the P-bass. They are a bit sproingy for my taste, but they are wonderful instruments. So, in essence, the Jazz, being the tone I prefer and the most versatile of the group, would be my choice. Hope that helps.
