Sorry guys, I couldn't go for the alembic. It was a 4 string model, and I knew I'd just gas for a 5 stringer later.

I went ahead with the KSD. It's fantastic. Just what I needed. I got it from Bass Central today, and put on some lakland joe osbourne flats, and it sings. I love it. The active/passive is fabulous. The 35 inch scale is nice, and this bass is MASSIVE, but I love that. I'm a pretty big guy, so it's all good.

Thanks for the input. This bass certainly compliments my stingray fairly well. I can now get a much wider tonal variety.

I might see about putting some better pickups in later down the line... we'll see. I'm set for now, just gonna take it in to get a setup this weekend.

IF there was one gripe I had about it, it would be the fit and finish. The control plate doesn't quite fit flush against the pickgaurd, but I think that will be easy to fix. And I got a few scrapes on the paint when I was changing out the strings. Very tiny, but still, it surprised me. I'll be more careful when chaning them next time.

Awesome bass though, I'm very happy.
