I'd try and find a Dingwall ABI XXX, if you can. Incredible tone and silky-smooth feel, with TONS of tonal capabilities. But, for the price you'd be paying for one of those, you could easily get a custom-made luthier six-string.

For that kind of money I would get a custom made from a reputable luthier, I got one made (avatar pic) from Pierre Laporte, I chosen everything from woods lamination to knobs and everything in between. He carved the neck to my hand position, the body to my leg.

And he stands behind his instruments with a lifetime warranty. Best experience ever at half the price of a dingwall...

I would look for a guy like that if you can

You've opened the can of worms where everyone just names their favorite brand without regard for the choices you've listed.

That is absolutely the most annoying thing on TB. Drives me crazy.

How many times have you seen a question asked such as "Should I buy a Fodera, Ritter or Carl Thompson?" and recommendations such as buy a SX, Fender, Squier VM and other completely left field responses come back? Nutty.

whats cool is the best rig and guitar is the one we have and play !! to get our unique tone and style is such a combination of gear, experience and sometimes just a freak event like a new amp or moving some gain around !! Rock on !! I always say whats the best bass,,,its the one i am playing right now !!

If I weren't looking for a 6 string I wouldn't be looking right now...I have both an outstanding 4 string and 5 string.

I love my Carvin LB76A, especially after I put Bartolini pickups in. Very tight string spacing for a 6er.

Decision made, thanks everyone for your input! Yeah, I know that the Dingwall Prima Artist 6 wasn't on the poll, but I couldn't pass this deal up.

Looks sweet, It's been 16 years since I've ran across a Dingwall; I was amazed at how easy the fanned frets were to play. Still don't believe it can top a Smith or Modulus though!

Besides.
The local GC and Sam Ash will NEVER have any of these to try out.
So I buy what I can.
Which is a Wolf,Tune,Dean,or an ESP.
