Both basses are cheap. The purpose for buying a 5 string to begin with is to have a bass that offers a good low B string. I would be willing to bet that both of these basses offer a "floppy" low B string. If it's going to be "floppy" you might as well just play a 4- string because only 4 of the strings are going to sound good. I have owned over 210 basses in my 30 years of playing, so I speak with experience.
Solution:
$200.00-$300 used Fender Mexican Jazz 5-string or used Ibanez Roadstar 5 string, or even a Peavey Fury or Patriot.
$300-$500 used Carvin
$500-$700 hopefully you can get a deal on a USA Fender 5 string, Yamaha BB5000A, Or TRB is a great one in this range.
