Which basses have you NEVER had gas for?

P's - too much of a one-trick pony, and the trick doesn't do it for me without *heavy* EQ'ing
Any bass where the G string (on 5ers) is prone to slipping off the fretboard edge. So far IME that includes Musicmen and Carvin/Kiesels
Peavey Cirrus - love the tone, but can't get action low enough without grinding down bridge saddles
Singlecuts
Neck-divers
Less than 18mm spacing
Passive only
Most of the stuff hanging in GC, just looks/feels/sounds like it all came from the same overseas factory made by cheap labor & parts (not being elitist)

Can someone explain to me the purpose of single cuts? Okay, so maybe your thumb doesn’t need the cutaway of the upper horn, but it’s still the needless weight of extra wood.

It has nothing to do with neck stiffness it has to do with connecting more of the neck to the body for greater overall sustain.

Also if you were really into getting rid of the needless weight of extra wood you should be playing a Steinberger and nothing else.

That's another aspect that many luthiers mention, definitely. But many I've talked to have also mentioned neck stiffness, so I think "nothing" is a bit strong. I own one and greatly enjoy it BTW, although I think the aesthetics of many of them are often not really all that swell.
