Demons run when a good man goes to war
Although she played guitar and piano but not bass, I pray to my Mother who passed away two years ago. She now has a front row seat to all of my jams! I still have a rough time getting through "Blue Eyes Cryin' In The Rain," her favorite song I sing.

Nu uh. Without basses, these people wouldn't have talent....
So when a football player scores a touchdown instead of kneeling down in the end zone and thanking God he should thank the ball because his talent came from the ball?
Talent comes from hard work or natural ability, not inanimate objects!
There's too many wonderful musicians out there man..
Yes!! Stanley Clarke is there too. And Chuck Rainey, Jaco Pastorius, Brian Bromberg, Jonas Hellborg, Billy Sheehan, Paul McCartney, Sting, Alain Caron, Bootsy Collins, Stuart Hamm, Michael Manring, Larry Graham... Phew...
And Guthrie Govan, Yanni, Beethoven, Chopin, Samvel Yervinkyan and Mozart, though they're not bassists.
It's tough when you have to narrow it down, they're all so good. And its tougher when the decision is based instrument-wise.
Sadly, I haven't heard any of Mick Karn's stuff. I will now.
I'm generally a Jack Bruce monotheist as well, but will occasionally do burnt offerings to Jameson if I'm doing a Motown number.
