Which Bassists were your inspiration when you started playing?

The man was a wizard in the studio and a monster onstage. I treasure the time I spent working with him.
I attended his Memorial Service In Oak Hill.

The last time I saw him was in 1995. My group at the time had played a house party the night before and he popped into town unexpectedly. We hung out for a little while then went over to the place we had played the night before with my drummer and roommate to retrieve our equipment and we jammed with ZIG for about an hour before tear down.
It was awesome he tore through Pink Floyd's Young Lust and just some free jam stuff like a man on fire.
I really missed him after he left here, but we fell out of touch.
About a month ago the other guitar player from my band at that time brought me a video cassette of us playing that house party and I was just reminded again of Ziggy having been there the next day. Then Friday I watched that Motley Crue movie and I thought of him again because of that Zutaut connection.
Thanks for posting about him and keeping his memory alive.
Like you I never could understand why he didn't make it to the top of the heap. He really was that exceptional as a player AND as a showman.
If I ever run across any tapes of the things we recorded I will post them on my bandcamp page and drop you a line.

I have a pic of Zig playing on top of the bar at WinterPlace Ski Resort on another computer. If I can get it to resurrect, Ill post it.

As for his making the big time, he told that he had sent an audition tape to some country act at one time, but didnt hear back from them.
He was probably way too metal and energetic for that.

I 've always said that anytime two people who both know Ziggy get together, they end up talking about him.

HAHAHA! That may be true.
He SHOULD have tried to get with Ozzy or Whitesnake or Dio or even some of those lesser bands that continue to this day regardless of how out of favor they fell in the 90s and 2000s.
Definitely would LOVE to see the pic if it come up.

I think his sister is still around Oak Hill, but she might have gone back to the Carolinas.
Did you know he had a son? He was at the Memorial.
