Which cabs, after Acme?

I wonder what it would sound like to place all four B-2s vertically? I'd love to see a stack 8+ ft tall and 1.5 ft wide!

Seven feet, eight inches tall to be exact...

Yeah, I've been actively mulling that one over myself. Do ya suppose there would be a major synergistic effect going on with that stack? Maybe one of our resident audio engineers would care to comment?

Just how does that sound?

The same is here but with different preamps(Line6BODXT Live or SansAmpRBI+dbx166xL -->two QSC2402's). I've used a 3 set(2 vertical one+one vertical with the 4th cab by our drummer) but may use that configuration for an upcoming live show on a BIG stage as the drummer will have a provided monitor.

Haven't had the "unique noises" problem either.

How physically stable is that stack the way you have it set up in the photo? Have you tried stacking the cabs long side up as well? How stable is that? And is there any noticeable difference in the quality of the sound dispersion as a result?

Invert the cabs on the left, placing the mid drivers next to each other, and you'll get considerably better midrange and high frequency clarity and dispersion.

The stack as pictured is very stable. It would definitely not survive a tumbling idiot rhythm guitarist, but barring that, I'd have no worries. (I created some feat for the head unit so it "locks in place" with the cabinet corners.)

I have not tried all 3 cabs together in any other way. I've recently gone to only using the single B4 now and am using the B2's as "studio monitors".

Thanks Bill! Actually I had learned this through on-stage experimentation since that original shot was taken. I still have much work to do on my photography skills (or lack thereof) as you can see by the new shot. BTW - flipping the grills over is a breeze. Something else to add to the "job jar".

Thanks Ken... I promised to update this at the and of February and just getting to it now. Sorry for the "snapshot quality".

You've pretty much nailed it... The TD-1 feeds the board or FOH and also runs into the STT-1 which is driving the CA9. This allows me to tweak the parametric EQ for a given room or stage and add a little compression if required (not often used).

With all four cabinets on a wooden stage the other band-members have been known to get lost in a song if they can feel the bass crawling up their legs... stage coupling can be pretty distracting! Usually I can just dial it out, but carry some gramma pads for severe cases.

I don't get to use the whole setup all that often and wish we played more rooms where I could. To drive a pair of Acmes I will often simply use a head, or the TD-1 and one side of the CA9 performs admirably.

Holy peanut butter sandwich. Being a CA9/(single) B2 user, I can only imagine what 4 sound like!
I hope you don't fire that thing up on any fault lines...
