Two different but effective ways to shape your tone. Graphic EQs (the one on the left) are nice because it's easy to see at a glance how you've shaped your tone. Parametric EQs are more precise, but more complicated: you have to rely on your ears rather than your eyes, but that can be a good thing.

The GE7 lets you adjust seven different frequencies at fixed points, the PQ3B/PQ4 lets you adjust three frequencies at variable points.

As noted, there's no right or wrong. Go with whichever seems like it'll be more effective for you.

My experience is graphic EQs are noisy. I didn’t have the Guitar one but I did own the bass graphic eq and didn’t care for it.

I do not know if it's better than version 4

I really love parametric EQ's but can see how they are not for everyone and not for every situation, but for experimenting/recording they are far superior.

You don't even need a fully Para EQ either, just parametric mids can open up a lot of possibilities. But some of the fancy ones like the Empress Para EQ seem hard to beat.

Master the graphic, graduate to the para. They’re two different beasts. Then you’ll be the expert.

I like this. It's on my GAS list. Can zero in on frequencies that could be beneficial to your sound. IME, Para EQ seems more precise, as mentioned feedback control. Graphic EQ seems more like a general on/off type of effect.

In a parametric I'd rather have something that allows you to adjust the bell curve, otherwise it's no better than a graphic with fewer bands to work with. This looks cool, but I'd still like a completely variable width: ParaEq

Graphic EQ for overall sonic spectrum shaping and simple problem fixing.

Parametric EQ for surgically precise adjustments.
