right and they are expensive basses, so that makes sense. no one of them have a standard bass? with like no options, like a base price? how about the warwick streamer? and maybe some of the changes are no price changes, so thats fine. i am assuming most have a "stock" pick up, correct? or you can change it if you pay more, right?

The shorter answer would be which ones aren't;). Typically someone would order these basses in whatever configuration they came in, be it the customer or the dealer:

Alembic Mark King Deluxe or Stanley Clarke
F Bass BNF-5
Fodera Victor Wooten, Emperor 5 Deluxe, Monarch 4 Victor, Imperial 5 Elite, Pro

You can find spec basses in stores but these are all custom builders.

You can custom order Warwicks but I think they have standard Streamer models.

I really like Wal, but I was just using the models that bass central carry. And each of these models are available there, so thats what I meant by not custom. But like someone said, someone customized it before it got to bass central, so I apologize.

Yes, you can sometimes find find basic versions of some of these basses. That's probably not how the majority of them are sold. If you're in the market, you've listed basses that run from sub $2k to over $10k with options. Pretty wide spread.

As far as a "standard bass", here's the problem with that: take the MTD 535 for example. Unless you're buying a spec bass (configured by someone other than you) you'll have to choose body woods and finish. That can have a big effect on what you end up with tonally. Since it's extremely hard to find many of these in the same place, it would help to have an idea of what you like in an instrument and be able to articulate it. Then a builder could let you know if it's something they can do.

Here's my basic issue with dream bass polls... most people haven't touched the basses they dream about so they have no idea whether it would be a dream in reality or a dud. You can spend lots of money and still end up with a bass you don't care for.

I love Spector and F-bass, and those would be my alternate choices, but I chose MTD 535. In addition to the fantastic tone, they are IMO the most beautiful basses out there. Everything from the body lines to the wood selection to the finishes are equally amazing.

PS: Dingwall Z1/Z2/Z3 deserves to be a choice on your poll. If they were on there, I might have chosen that one, even over MTD.

None out of the list.

The one still most appealing to me, even since years filled with other basses have past, but I doubt if it's better than what I have now. Or is it? If only I could try it ones...... The Ken Lawrence C-Brase II .....
