Which Fender jazz is it gonna be

Ok I am generally a precision guy , but I have serious onslaught of jazz bass gas.I have a beloved 64 P so the vintage touch does appeal to me.
I am thinking the following will fit into my budget of $1500

American vintage 62 jazz
American standard jazz
Roadworn 62

where do you think my money will be best spent? Sleepless decision less nights ahead.

I would go with the Roadworn. I mocked them when they came out but after playing a handful of them, they are the real deal. Vintage feel and nice light weight. Great necks IMO.

I've seen some mid-70's jazzes (4 bolt neck) going for around $1500 with no bids on Ebay...if it were me, I'd snatch up one of those in a second, but I love real old stuff...

Otherwise, the 62 RI

Tough decision. The American Standard has more color choices but you can't deny the sweet vintage vibe you get with the other 2.

i got an '09 american standard P bass a while back and i'll pit it up against ANY of the roadworn or vintage basses. i was surprised at how great it is. i know it's not a J bass but just chiming in about the american standards, ('08-present american standards that is)

I'd try out the new 2010 American Deluxe Jazz also. $1599.00 so just over your budget, but fantastic quality on these things and a nice 70's vibe too with binding, block inlays and 70's headstock logo.

It's just me I know, but, I never got on with my MIA 62 stack because I couldn't get 'my' tone from the stack knobs.

I would go for one of the others. FWIW my gigging anywhere bass that gets me a decent tone on any rig in any venue in my MIA 2005 active deluxe. The tonal range on that bass is MASSIVE and it is a great player and has 22 frets, and is light.... Worth a thought?

I still haven't made a choice despite all of the help above. a used skyline 44-60 has become available at a fairly good price $750 should I consider this bass or is it a completely different animal to the fenders I initially was considering.

+1 for an active bass. My old US jazz plus with it's preamp can give me any tone I've ever wanted or anyone else has ever asked for, and with so many really good aftermarket preamps available these days you don't have to limit your choices to only those basses with an included preamp.

are you set on fender? i like the nash suggestion as a replacement to the road worn, or even an American G and L over the standard, or go warmoth and build a 62' with better quality woods and electronics all around and probably be under that $1,500.00 price mark, Aguilar is making a set of sick 60's style pickups right now.
