Which Fender should get the flats

I have never had flats on a bass until I received my 58 AV that came with them already installed. I play in a tribute band and also at church and only use rounds. So I pulled off the flats and put them away in the case. Since all three basses are essentially the same, with different pickups, I was wanting to put flats on one of these basses.

So I ask TB, which bass would you put them on and why? Whichever gets the most votes I will install them on. All of these basses play and sound great.

I should've stated the pickups.

50s lacquered has EMG GZRs, 58 AV has the stock Pure Vintage 58s, and the Road Worn has Pure Vintage 63s.

I dunno, I like the La Bella flats on my Squier Mini P with a GZR pickup.

Flats should sound fine on any of them, but I use flats the least by far, so I'd put them on the bass that you use the least, unless you want to use flats all the time. And then I'd put them on any but the black one.

I don't think it matters.

I said Road Worm because that's what I did. I use to only use flatwounds on all my basses until about 5 years ago. Different needs led me to only use roundwounds since then. But then I recently bought a Road Worn with Original 62 pickup (sunburst). That finish and vibe screams "put flats on me", and that bass will never have rounds on it again. Definitely a vibe thing for me. IMHO, flats sound great on any P Bass with any pickup (I've owned A LOT of different ones).

If you want me to play them, then none. Some folks love flats. I'm not "some folks", which I guess means I'm one of "the other folks"

I used flats for over 30 years but about 20 years ago I switched to nylon tapewounds.

All of them will sound great with flats. Generally I would have installed flats on the brightest sounding bass (and the one that gets least muddy when rolling off the tone) because flats can get a bit muddy with dark sounding P-basses (like Fenders with the extremely dark PV63 pickup). But if you're using the Fender flats that came with your AV58 this won't matter much as these are very bright flats and nowhere near the tone of thumpy, old school flats like LaBellas and GHS flats. Fender flats are very nice strings but they won't give you the classic "vintage" flatwound tone. They're kinda halfway between vintage style flats and roundwounds.

Those AV 58s have such an incredible P sound and I think you get the most out of it with rounds. I would put the flats on the road worn.
