Which flat wounds ?

I used Rotosound jazz bass flats on my "jazz" bass (cos they were recomended to me), but i bought some GHS Flats and they are sooooo smooth - i think they are the best. Trouble is, they are a nightmare to get over here in the UK .

My first choice is La Bella 760FL's .43-.104 and they come in Short, Medium or Long scale.

My second choice would be TI JF344's.

I asked the same type of question a while back. The Deep Talkin Flats got me that 60's-70's chunky sound I was looking for. I put them on a fretless 5. My inspiration is classic underground rock, blues and jazz. So, for me it's heaven...

Can recommend them enough.


OBTW: It sure is nice to see many of the fine folks on this board looking back, musically, to this time.

I recently landed a gig with a really good local R&B/Soul band so tonight I put a set of D'Addario Chromes flatwounds on my P-Bass. I haven't used flats for quite some time; so they feel a bit strange, but now my P-Bass has a bit of a Jamerson/Dunn vibe that I need for this gig.

I've also pulled my Jazz bass out of mothballs and put on a new set of nickel roundwounds.

Bring on the Funk!!!!
