Band of Brothers is head and shoulders above the rest. There is also a companion series, The Pacific, that covers WWII in, guess where, the Pacific theater. Also very well done, but because it follows 3 separate men vs. one company in BOB it doesn't flow quite as well.

I've watched Deadwood and The Wire. I'd put The Wire next. Very well done but slow moving. I wanted to really like Deadwood. It started well but then was sort of wash, rinse, repeat. Who new that everyone's favorite word in the old west was c________r?

I saw part of an Oz episode when I was staying in a hotel once. Too much gay/rapey for my tastes.

I'm still pissed about Firefly.

Band of Brothers is a must watch but personally The Wire is leaps and bounds above the rest of the list. However, I get why many (particularly white) people do not enjoy it. The Wire is extremely real, right down to the street talk. Many people get lost in the lingo but I like how they didn't whitewash the language like Law and Order or Breaking Bad. I held off on The Wire for years, I was told ever show from 2000-2010 was "as good as Sopranos" and they never were, The Wire most definitely was.

Boardwalk Empire is pretty boring except the season finales. Deadwood is great but gets cancelled so it is left hanging. Silicon Valley is hilarious, I love Mike Judge as well as Martin Starr so I might be biased. I haven't seen enough of the rest to give a fair opinion.
