Which Ibanez to choose?

I live in Japan guys. I have seen many, many Japanese basses. The quality is at least good, in the higher end models it's flat out excellent. This is not a culture that is conducive to half way measures like ours. These folks really believe that anything worth doing, is worth doing well. As far as Ibanez basses, if you don't like them that is fine, however IMO for reasonably priced bassesm, you can hardly go wrong if you take your time and try a few. I played a BTB405QM yesterday and I thought that it was excellent throughout. The construction was spotless, the sound was rich and full, and finish was outstanding.

ATK is a great bass. Heavy. But the tone, playability and sustain mroe than make up for it. Just a little hard come by now. At least they are in Australia.

One day i decided to buy a new bass... of course Ibanez, because there is no better basses(in my area) ... so i ordered Ibanez SRX500, guys from the shop screw me(1 month is enought time) .. so i bought used warwick corvette ...
But i still miss Ibanez .. meybe later will buy Ibanez BTB 5stringer ..

I really loved my old-school ATK100. Nice bell tone off that one.

I think the new SRX (the vintage lookin one) looks promising.

I personally think Ibanez makes a nice, neutral offering. They do the job right, and play good, but not all that "distinguishable"...a very chameleon like quality.

Decent build quality, not too shabby materials, and hell, they muct be doing something right, as they move alot of units, and not just the cheapies....

Studio bass legend Carol Kaye has just started using the SRX 700 and The SRX 500 ,and she can't say enough good things about the tone and the way they record.Go to her site and ask her yourself, she will reply in detail.I myself have just bought a 500, and it has monstrous tone.I own many a Fender, G&L, and Musicman, and this is a great bass at a very reasonable price. Word. I play and record with my SRX500. Of my 7 basses, it's #1 in overall performer. This is going against a couple nice warmoths and a great carvin fretless. If mine ever had a problem that couldn't be fixed, I'd order another within the hour.

SRX and then SR.

SR's are narrowest so if you can slap on an SR (especially a 5er) then you will have no probs anywhere.

SRX are amazing, i love them to bits

Allright folks. I just modded my BTB; installed a set of Barts and an Aguilar OBP-3 pre-amp. That puppy just just rules now; it has to be heard to be believed. All told it set me back just over $1100 including the cost of the luthier. I live in Japan and luthiers are more expensive here, but the bass is flawless; Japanese luthiers are some of the best in world. The BTBs get my vote.

Play around with an SR900 for sure. It has a pair of Barts dropped in it and has a nice slim neck. It's also quite a looker.

i had a soundgear 505, i believe, for two years. it wasn't very good at all, i paid $575 for it. i sold it recently for $240 and picked an ATK300 for $300, it is a fantastic bass, i'm absolutely in love with it.

If you must have an Ibanez, do yourself a favour and buy a second hand Ibanez Musician MC924 (fretted) or MC940 (fretless) from 1980-87 (I think the ones from the '83-84 with the black P/U's, smaller headstock, 3-band EQ, and P/U balance control were the best).

The Musician is without a doubt one of the best basses ever produced.

People who bash Ibanez as a whole don't know what they're talking about. You get what you pay for just like with any other brand.

I mean, which Fender is better, a P or a J ?
I'd take a P any day of the day, week, year, century but you will find a whole brigade jumping for a J.

the srx700 nt is a cracking bass guitar , versatile , bright and great action with a great neck profile and its neck thru as well which i do say if u look at the back of the guitar loooks stunning role on june so i can get mine!!

Well, my old RB800 is better than any Ibanez bass I've played...but I've only played a handful of em...

but the SR300DX is pretty (really) good for the money, and I say go with the SR for the necks..
