I bought my new Am. Std. Jazz Bass in 2013. It is a comfortable weight and
has the Fender Custom Shop ‘60’s pickups. The craftsmanship is excellent, and I enjoy
the satin finish on the back of the neck.
The sound is everything a Jazz should
be. I paid ~$1100. I highly
recommend this model if you can
find one used in good or above
condition.
Likewise, I have a 2014. Really not sure what more I could ask for in a Jazz Bass. Wish I had gotten two or three at the time.I bought my new Am. Std. Jazz Bass in 2013. It is a comfortable weight and

Ok, thanksIf Fender is the only brand of basses anyone plays, how do all the other companies who make basses stay in business? The simple answer is that there are other basses that people like better than Fender. I’m one of them. I played Fenders for about 10 years and then found other basses that played and sounded better. Of course it’s your money and you can spend it however you choose. Just choose wisely.
I've been playing J-basses long enough to know that I really have to play a bunch of them then pick the one that feels and sounds right.

A grand isnt so easy to come by for some of us anymore.Another grand will get you to a Fender Custom Shop ‘64 Jazz Bass.
I just got one in Noble Blue! Sadly, the Bridge pickup would not work, it is on its way back for repair! What time I spent with it, it felt amazing!I got an Ultra II last year. It is amazing, everything I was looking for in a jazz bass. The quartersawn neck was a desirable feature to me and makes it a step above the rest imo.
