I would change the tubes in a head and bias it but that's it. It's shoes on and one hand in your pocket.
I know there is a technique for discharging a filter capacitor. Your supposed to touch the capacitor lead with the tip of a screwdriver and then touch the chassis with the screwdriver, at the same time. I've never done it though.

Discharging a charged cap with a dead short can potentially damage an otherwise good capacitor. A bleed resistor should be used to gradually discharge it over 10 seconds or so.

And that's fine. It may well serve as a cautionary warning to others so inclined to blindly dive into such an trap.

The point is, it can't be stressed enough that bulldozing into something such as this can be fraught with hidden dangers that can potentially be lethal. How far can someone with without any electronics training be expected to troubleshoot the problem? One has to thoroughly understand how the amp works on the component level before they can do this. Additionally, they may well do more damage than good making things more difficult to sort through for a real technician.

Ha! Probably nothing, I’m pretty happy with my first gen Ampeg BA115. This was supposed to live in my friend’s shed so that I wouldn’t have to lug out my gear to his place when I came over, but ah well.
