which one?

hey guys I'm looking to purchase an amp, I've narrowed it down to

Ashdown MAG C115-300 EVO II Combo

Hughes and Kettner BK 200 Bass Amp Combo

Hartke HyDrive 115C

Ampeg BA210SP

now i cant decide on which amp to go for. Any suggestions

Try them all, but try the Gallien Krueger MB212 too.

Buying an amp is a personal thing, it should be done using the buyers ears. Also, it's a common mistake to buy a large-ish combo amp, and then very shortly thereafter, realising that you're under-gunned in a rock band. I'd suggest skipping the combo's altogether, and looking for a used 300 watt or more head, and a used 4x10 or bigger cab. Buy them with your ears as well, but don't get stuck with something that you have to crank way beyond reasonable to hear it.

The ashdown is good for rock, punk, blues, and anything wich needs a fat tone. But it doesn't have any punch. Ah, and it delivers 200W if you run it 8ohm, not 300W

+1 Often, a large combo amp ends up in that uncomfortable middle ground of being to bulky to easily schlepp to practices and small gigs, but not powerful enough to get the job done in a full on rock band.

Cheers for the advice, I used to have a Trace stack a while ago but got fed up lugging the 4x10 and 1x15 around so I sold it.......Now looking to purchase a combo, think one of those should suit me, don't play much live anymore, more in the studio. I'll check out the Gallien Krueger MB212, cheers jaco
