I think this thing DOES sound good indeed!
Is there a trimpod inside the pedal so one can get that sound at unity?
If it's a little grit you're looking for, check out the voodoo lab sparkle drive or the way huge pork loin. if however you're looking to buy an overdrive that's suitable for rock and metal and money is no option, definitely check out the darkglass vintage microtubes. it can go from a smooth warm overdrive to a heavy grind. I own one myself and it sounds awesome. I've been using it as a smooth overdrive. it's a little pricey, but it's worth it to have smooth bass overdrive suitable for rock and metal music.
No clue. If you've been on the website you know as much as I do. They seem pretty responsive to questions though - I asked how it sounds through a solid state amp and the posted a second video the next day on their fb page.
I went through tons of Guitar- and Bass-Pedals (Fuzz, Overdrives, Distortion).
If you want a little grit and a nice tubey sound give the EHX BASS BLOGGER a try.
Lot of people don't like it, i love it in drive mode (because it works for me).
Remember: a pedal sounds good with your amp but not with an other amp or cab.
It alyways depends on the PEDAL>>AMP>>CAB combination.
That's why all bassists/guitarists have to try tons of pedals till they got their sound.

For just a bit of grit but transparency I would strongly recommend the Fairfield Barbershop. It gives you that pushed tube amp vibe without imparting its own tone. My personal favorite of all I have played so far(and that is a relatively long list), is the Catalinbread SFT. Its a killer sounding overdrive that has a versatile EQ and a wonderfully smooth transition from clean to drive.
The OCD is a guitar pedal, but as explained above that doesn't really matter. Some love the way it sounds on bass (me) and some also don't like that it cuts some low end (also me). Whether it sounds good through your bass and amp is really up to you to decide. Some players won't notice the low end loss because they have their EQ set in such a way that it really doesn't make a difference. Others will notice it.
The Fuzzrocious Demon is an OCD clone that is a little more bass friendly.
You could also run the OCD with a clean blend. That way to can blend it some of your clean signal to keep the low end in tact.
The OCD doesn't sound anything like the OBD-3 IMO.
I can't believe no one has directed you to JohnK's site yet. He has clips of a zillion different dirt pedals that might aid you in finding what you like. Reviews on a few pedals too

Drive wise I have to echo the suggestion of the cm2 and bass soul food.
Another OCD derivative worth checking out is the ehx glove. Love mine for higher gain stuff- it does a great lemmy-esque drive.
I found the pork loin too dark, and no matter where I set it (using both internal and external controls) it got lost in the mix.
I still quite like the ibanez bass tubescreamer for low gain sounds, even though the bass soul food has taken the slot on my main board. It replaced the older dod bass overdrive which still sounds awesome, but the bsf fit better for me in my situation.
Over the years I've been through hundreds of drive pedals (bass and guitar models), some worked great, but many (including some of the hyped pedals often mentioned here on tb) didn't.

It looks like I have more reading/research to do, and I'm going to check out the pedals mentioned.
Q: Do you guys have sound samples of the CM-2, TC Spark Booster, Pork Loin, and the Sparkle Drive or can elaborate a bit on them?
Q: Is the OCD a guitar pedal? I only liked it because of how it sounded in a Youtube demo, but that doesn't mean it will sound good through my bass/amp.
Also I didn't want an OD that sounds like my ODB3 ... too harsh even at it's lowest settings.

If you like the Fulltone OCD, wait for the Big Game OD coming very soon. Ive been using and loving the Fulltone for almost 3 years heavily. I have been beta testing the BG OD and it will be swiftly kicking the OCD off my board directly. THe BG OD has much better low end retention and has the hi/lo pass as well. There are other mods available when its released but if I were you, I would wait for it. Shouldnt be long now. What a great OD. It will be my primary OD moving forward. The boost channel in it rocks as well.
I think a big factor here may be that a lot of them have tried it. Just the wrong one. THe newer one with the bottom black plate isnt nearly as good as the one that has the bottom yellow plate. THe 2013 reissue. I know I love mine too and would recommend it to any bassist looking for a good OD full of sweetness and character.
+1 Darkglass Vintage Microtubes. In full disclosure, I'm not a big user of OD tones and, tonally, I prefer something subtle that sounds "tubey". I have tried several of the ones mentioned and finally settled on the Vintage Microtubes. It's slightly more than I spent on other pedals but definitely worth the $.
Aguilar agro needs to be mentioned as well. It's a well behaved bass pedal that can go from slight dirt to full blown distortion. I love mine.
I also use a MI Audio Blueboy deluxe Mk II. Guitar pedal - but it does not cut bass. no. the opposite. One pot adds highs and cuts bass turned clockwise and boosts bass and cuts highs counterclockwise. Turn it too far and it feels like a LPF for a subwoofer. Also, it can mix the dry and wet signals. A very good choice if low gain OD is what you are after.

1. Darkglass VMT (Save the money and get it....VERY versatile and simply one of the best IMO)
2. Way Huge Pork Loin (Mid Price range but does nice smooth and growly subtle OD VERY well. Can get nice and gritty if you need it to)
3. MXR-M85 bass Distortion (Don't let the name fool you, it does EVERYTHING and anyone who has tried it is singing from the mountaintop!)
3. Boss BB-1X (KILLER pedal and very versatile...Not a Boss guy but can't stop singing the praise of this one)
