Which PJB amp am I after

I auditioned both side by side. The Micro 7 was beefier sounding compared to the double 4. Have not noticed any white noise. I also tried the Session 77 and that was a train wreck sound wise. Its possible the floor model may have had an issue.

I totally agree with your view on the sound comparison! You are probably one of the lucky guys. Mine wasn't a floor model and purchased new through an authorized dealer. Some other people have also counted the same noise issue with the micro 7.

PS: Not trying to start a fight or something...just wanted the OP know that it's a great unit but there is risk involved in purchasing this model.

Hello all,

I’m looking for a small practice amp to sit next to my sofa and also take out on the porch to enjoy while taking in some fresh air.

Some time back I would have known which PJB amp to get but now it seems there are about a half dozen or so that all seem pretty similar to me.

Which would you recommend from the current lineup?

I am very happy with the PJB Double Four. The output is 60 watts. It can be powered with a lap-top computer pack. Which I use when playing outside. PJB also makes a practice amp with a single 4 inch speaker which I’ve seen was recommended by some players here.

I play it in a small Cafe with 12 to 20 people playing guitars, fiddles, and banjos and people still ask me to turn the volume down.

Actually, the output is 70 watts. I recently talked to Phil himself, asking if I line out to another PJD4, will they be 140w, he said yes.

Each Double 4 speaker has it's own dedicated 35w amplifier.
