which power amp?

But value and weight are considerations, and I've owned the PLX for those same reasons...and it does a fine job. No knocks on the PLX here.

No, I mean a double-blind ABX test, not just a simple A/B. If you had, you wouldn't make the claims you do. ;)

i'm not trying to take anything away from the lab.gruppen -- i have heard from not just you that it is an oustanding amp. i also don't think

i was wrong about the weight it's a half pound heavier at 22.5 lbs. including the power cable. it specs out about the same, too, but in side by side comparisons (again, these comparisons were made by the designer, so take them with a big grain of salt) the pro 9200 didn't cut out as quickly. also, on the inside it is a single PCB and very few wires. that doesn't necessarily affect sound quality, but i have become keenly attuned to reliability issues in my time at peavey and can say that more mechanically simple an amp is, the more likely it is to be reliable.

does it cost less? i don't know. i'll leave that to a buyer to determine. i really don't want to sound like i'm taking anything away from the lab.gruppen. it's a great amp. also, part of what fueled my GAS for a pro 200 amp the sexy LEDs on the front panel. they lit up the wall on the other side of the lab, which is about 20 x 20. and the green is "natural" green, not the bright, kelly green of LED history. that's not exactly technical criteria.

hey, buy a pro 200 amp because it keeps me employed instead of a swede!

I'm just running an RMX1450, works well enough and powers my whole rig. I've clipped it a few times, but otherwise it's always ample power. It is a bit heavy, and is of course the bulk of my rack :( Which also houses a powerbrite, compressor, wireless/tuner (half spacers) a svp-bsp and then the rmx. It's not fun to lug around, but at least I got the 6 spacer with wheels!

if I had more money and roadies, heck yeah I'd buy a better/bigger and most certainly heavier amp, but for now I'll stick with it. It's survived the last 3 years of abuse running one channel 2ohms, the other 4.
