Which PS? MXR, Voodoo, Gator, or what?

Ok, I discovered that my crappy power supply (Donner, sorry…) was causing some real noise. So now I want something worthwhile. At this point, the MXR Iso-Brick looks pretty good for $150. Are they good?

Do I need to look at Voodoo Lab, or Gator? Cioks for crying out loud?

I just want noiseless power.

I'll give a thumbs up for voodoo but I've read good things about mxr and cioks too.

I’ll throw a vote in for Trutone CS series. No external transformer (that’s a must for me), plenty of power, 18v etc if you need it. Fault free for years for me. I have the CS7

Never had a problem with Voodoo PP2+'s but did get rid of them in favor of Cioks (DC10 and DC10 Link).

I had lots of noise problems with my MXR iso brick. I got the strymon zuma and haven’t looked back since. Great power supply with plenty of juice and noise free

I also had a Cioks on my guitar board, and it was great!

I want a beefy cable going from my pedalboard to the outlet. One that can be trodden on. One that won't break if someone trips. So depending on your setup, you might want to leave out those with a wall wart.

I've got a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power Iso-5 that is great, but I was thinking of either getting another one as I need a few more plugs now, or a Cioks DC7 to replace it with, rather then running two (need two 18V supplies now). Both seem to have great reviews - the Voodoo Labs pedal is very quiet and not noisy at all, and i'm expecting the Cioks to be the same.

I had kind of thought that Cioks power supplies were overly expensive, but now that I look, they’re reasonably competitive.

I’m using a TrueTone C7, same company that makes the OneSpot. Works great. I’m also eyeing up the new Fender Engine Room power supplies.

Another vote for Cioks. Get the right one for your needs and it’ll power anything you want.

I've got a Strymon Zuma/Ojai combo and love it! It fits under my pedalboard with room to spare, has a couple of selectable voltage outlets, and has never created a noise problem.

I keep reading good things about Cioks also, but I avoided them since their cables use different connectors and I'd dread having one go bad or losing one at a gig and not being able to borrow one from someone else.

I've come to prefer the Cioks connectors (just make sure you always have some spares). Since they are RCA, you can buy RCA extension cords if you need to reach further. I use a DC7 to power pedals at my desk so it's great having that long reach.

Only 9 Volts?
Only less than 100 mA per outlet?
If you might buy digital stuff in the future you might need more than 100 mA per outlet (or you end up combining two outlets for just one pedal etc.)

Me too. I’m debating between a cioks DC7 and a Fender Engine Room LVL8. There are lots of reviews of cioks but not that many for the fender.

I love my iso brick. Works great for my purposes. No noise, no issues. I also like the size and shape of it.

I have a Truetone CS7 powering the right side and a Voodoo Digital powering the last four pedals (Mobius through Ventris) mounted under my board, and they are both great!
