Which short scale bass?

I suggest Eastwood - they have a few choises and my main bass is the Classic 4. I tried the Highflyer one afternoon: solid body, looks frickin awesome, and no neck dive.
Others:
Italia (several models).
Epiphone Allen Woody.
If you're really tight for cash, Gretsch makes an attractive cheap one these days, though it's kinda small. If you have a lot of extra cash, Ampeg is re-issuing the old Armstrong plexi bass. Kind of Heavy, though.
Some recent Danelectro reissues are short scale - Longhorn for sure and somebody already mentioned the new one.
I knew a guy with an SG/EB-style that tied a sock with pennies in it to his stap where it connected to the end of the bass - no neck dive and when fights broke out he had a small hand weapon (yah, he was in a gutter punk band.)

+ 1My cousin has a shortscale SX P bass. I was impressed by the quality and value for the money and it had no neck dive issues that I noticed.
I have one and love it. Upgrade the pickup sometime down the road, if desired, and you have a great bass. If you want it to be really nice get a fret dressing. Here's mine:
If I wanted to spend $500 that would be my first choice.
