Easy. The Pentabuzz. You can always get a Ric. Don't like the Pentabuzz after you get it? It will sell, then get the Ric.

@Dr. Cheese exactly what is the issue with the truss rod? Is the wrench anything special, or just a standard hex? Obviously you want to make sure the neck is workable. I had a friend who used to play a Pedulla back in the early 90s and that was one sweet playing and sounding instrument.

The trussrod looks good, and Pedulla sells their owners kit, which includes the wrench for about $19. I think it will be ok.

I would have bought and sold it right away. Not a Pedula fan but it sure seems like theres some money to be made. If I were closer to this shop...

. You notice the good @Dr. Cheese isn't divulging that info. He probably hid it in back under some old power tools and a moldy tent.

I'd go with the Pedulla. Those are just fantastic fretless basses. And good resale value.

Unless that particular Ric is a reeeeeeeally good one, I'd bypass it under the notion that there's tons of them around.

Gary Lunn was one of my Nashville influences in the 90s and he played a Pentabuzz for Toby Keith and others. Would be awesome to have one someday.

Pedulla makes the best production basses for my money (thunderbass, in my case). They will hold their value. You can always get your money back out of one if you decide it's not for you.

This is the Pedulla in action. The bass comes in a Fender hard case. It does not have trussrod wrench.

Listening to that you'll take to fretless with ease. As long as the trussrod is in working condition that decision is a no-brainer.

Jamming is easier than playing for a service. I remember using a fretless Jazz, and getting really lost on songs I did not know well. I also had to play close attention on those songs that have continually modulate to higher key st the end too.

For one night it would be Ginger (the Ric) but for the duration definately the Pedulla (Mary Ann). As already said- you can get a Ginger later.

I was at my favorite music store, and I was practicing “And the Beat Goes On...” by the Whispers with Leon Sylvers III on bass. After twenty minutes, I grabbed the 4003s and turned up the mutes. I was so close to Leon Sylvers III sound, it was unreal! I am getting the Pedulla, but a 4003s is in my future, God willing!

What is this 'real money' you speak of? I make basses out of rubber bands and cardboard boxes... and I still can't afford them afterwards!
