I've never been a fan of Rics for several reasons, on of the main ones being the sharp angle at the edges of the fretboard. However, I've always loved the mwaaahhh factor of Pedullah fretless basses. So, take what I post with a grain of salt. BTW, where's the 'carrots" option?

How about you pick up the Pedulla, then trade me for my brand new Jetglo 4003? Honest question. Been looking for a 5'buzz for a minute and a half.
These are shots of the trussrod. I cannot tell if it is stripped or not. The bass is quite playable, but it slightly frets out at 21 frets with some buzz, but it is still playable.
The more you talk about it the more that Pedulla is gonna get sold out from under you. And the less playing you'll get.
This bass really gets deep! Focusing on the split pickup, this Pentabuzz sounds a lot like a double bass.
Pentabuzz - it makes you sound like a better fretless player, than you are. Just my .02. No disrespect intended.
I have two in Universities now, so I feel your pain Dr. C I can only dream of my next bass and at a major discounted price point so far I have nothing really tearing at me gear wise thankfully
Officially and in accordance with TalkBass tradition of spending other player's money for them, I say "Both!!!" but if I were in your shoes I'd have bought the Pedulla yesterday. The Rick is a great bass but you can find them any day of the week in almost any major market and price point. The Pedulla, while definitely a time-stamped bass within our community, is still an incredible instrument and a comparatively much rarer bird to come across.
I'd also mention that if you buy the Pedulla and become proficient in using a fretless, you'll have another great and expressive tool to pull out of your toolbox when playing with different artists.

@Dr. Cheese exactly what is the issue with the truss rod? Is the wrench anything special, or just a standard hex? Obviously you want to make sure the neck is workable. I had a friend who used to play a Pedulla back in the early 90s and that was one sweet playing and sounding instrument.

We only had one, and when he graduated from college and became a self-supporting adult, it was the biggest raise I ever got. And then spent on our house and a newer car for my wife and... Oh, well.
