Which Small Combo Amp.

Most of the gigs I do recently happily do not require large amps...sound matters, a very light weight combo is a big plus...I do mostly jazz gigs with a piano trio or quartet and play a P most of the time...I would appreciate any advice to aid my decision.

Budget? Don't rule out a modular rig. You will pay about the same if you are buying used. Gallien Krueger MB200, MB500, or Ampeg PF-350 plus a light 112 would come in lighter than a combo with superior sound quality and power. You can stick the 3.5 lb head in your gig bag, and carry the cab in the other hand. If the bass is on your back, it is a one trip carry with one hand free to wave, "Helllllo Baaaaby!".

Also, I'd recommend getting a good quality 8 ohm 112 (Aguilar, MarkBass, GK Neo, Genz Benz, Epifani, Bergantino). Check the Talkbass classifieds. When you join that fusion/funk/latin band, you can just add another 112.

Do you play upright much?
