Which Squier VM?

11qlfzc.jpg

I'm hearing nothing but good things about this one. 175 bucks ain't bad either.

Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special
Basswood body on 3-Tone Sunburst and Crimson Red models
Agathis body on Black model
Slim, fast-action, C-shape maple neck
Rosewood fretboard
Precision Bass and Jazz Bass pickups
Active Bass Boost circuit
Chrome hardware

34" scale
9-1/2" fretboard radius
Width at nut: 1-1/2"

I'm not gonna yell at you for for posting something for sale outside of the classified section, but you could tell me you put 10 grand into it and somehow imbued the wood with the souls of Jaco Pastorius and Victor Wooten, and I still wouldn't be interested. I'm sure you did a fine job, but unless you're a world-famous luthier with a 100% perfect reputation for miraculous custom work on cheap basses, I'll pass. Thanks

A couple videos for reference on this one, mko1303:
Fly Away Finger style is a little off, but the slap tone is nice.
StarLight Finger style over the bridge pickup.
Or it's passive brother with Duncan Designed pups, the VM Jag not Special(below). $100 more but it's lovely.

There's video if a TBer playing one of these with Anthony Hamilton on Leno... Invalid Link Removed. :bassist:

I figure VM basses are kinda like Pokemon.

The "Squier" logo on the head stock is always gonna bother me.
Bah, if it said "Sh**tyBassist" on the head stock would it sound worse? Actually, I'd probably buy a bass if it said that on the head.

If it really bothers you, you can write "Fendre" on a post-it and stick it over the Squier logo. If anyone asks, tell them it's European or something. Someone posted a photo of that solution but I can't seem to find it.

There's a pretty good thread about Squier head stock decals. In that thread number11 and Engine207 have a couple decal alternatives that are pretty cool. But really, most of what can be said about getting over the Squier logo is in there. IMO.

No need for all the attitude-you were looking for something, I had something like it for sale, I let you know. I did not say I did the work; I stated quite clearly it had been done at Peekamoose here in NYC, a very highly regarded shop that has done much of my work for quite a while. I also invited the moderators to delete my post if it violated any TB policies; they passed.
I personally couldn't care less what the writing on an instrument says. I've made a living for 40+years playing noname axes that have satisfied some awfully picky people-the ones that listen with their ears rather than with their eyes.
It's moot anyway-the bass sold on another forum for the original asking price.

IMO the logo has nothing to do with whats coming out that bass and what that player is laying down for the band to groove on,if it really bothers you just put a snark clip on tuner over the logo and nobody will know what your playing,it really doesnt matter to 99% of your audience anyway they could care less, the only person who is gonna notice is another bass player and if he is watching you and taking note of what your bass is its probably because he cant believe his ears that it sounds so good and he is surprised that its a squier..just play, have fun and lock it in with your drummer in the end its you and your heart thats coming out of that Bass ,has nothing to do with the logo.come on man (ITS A STICKER):bassist:

Hells yea!!! I would rock one of the new cv or vm squiers!!!

Looking for some impressions of the VM Precision Bass TB. I have a chance to pick one up locally for a good price. Haven't played it yet but definitely will before buying. I already have a VM 70's Jazz and a CV 50's P. This TB seems pretty close to the CV 50's P. Anyone played them both? I was suprised the TB is string through body.
