Which TI flats for a Mustang?

The answer: Deep Talkin' flats, short scale.
I just got two sets - one for my Gretsch Electromatic Jr. Jet 2202, the other for my Bronco bass.

Yep, TI flats doesn't make a short scale string and the standard length will not work. Short scale Labellas, or Pyramids are your answer!
The thought of trying to gig a 30" scale bass with TI flats gives me the heebie jeebies. You'd be stuck with nothing more than half notes. Floppy town USA.

What is the tension like with the LaBellas and Pyramids?
I have TI Jazz Flats on a P and a J, set up with low action; I play with a light touch and they are great. Some who have played my basses do not like them because they are used to digging in.
I am looking for something comparable for a Mustang.

Will the LaBella shorts fit a Mustang? I was told that you needed to use medium scale because of the string through bridge. I'm just using standard scale D'Addario Chromes on my Mustang and they sound a feel great.
I had Chromes on the Precision for awhile and liked them until I tried the TIs for the first time.
Making the change to TIs has changed my technique for the better (economy of movement and less hand fatigue). I'd like to think that translates into more musical playing.

AH! Well put. Mustangs are through-body, aren't they? Forgot that.
My #2 choice would be D'Addario Chromes. Never tried TIs.
If you're desperate for TIs, just install long scale strings if that's all they offer and cut them off as needed. I've done that more than once - never had a problem with it.
30 - 32" flats are not necessarily floppy. The strings are engineered for the proper tension at the reduced length.
Ti makes short scale flats.
They are 32 but fit my sons Musicmaster and my Hagstrom with no problems

Would the ones for the Hofner (2+2) work on a Fender 4-in-line headstock? (Looks like the same set except for the gauge of the E string).
According to their catalog, LaBella makes specially designed sets for thru-body stringing.

there is a hofner-style (.096 E string) set of short scale TI flats currently listed (and ending) on ebay today, if that's interesting to you...
Not to advertise outside of the classifieds but I also have 32" scale TI's pretty much at all times, lower than most (if not all) internet sources. Feel free to PM me with questions if you want.

I put the Hofners on the MusicMaster and Hagstrom Corinado both have inline tuners.
No troubles.
