Which Warwick has the most Growl?

i say the bolt on thumb has the most growl from what ive tried.. the neck through thumb has a different growl, its a bit smoother.

the streamer stage 2 growls a lot as well but i prefer the tone of the thumb.

i dont feel very comfortable playing thumb basses though so give them a try

I had a fretless Fortress with a Wenge neck with Ebony fingerboard that growled and snarled like a junkyard dog.

I agree - fortress one is a helluva sound and it is pleasure to play!
I had thumb too and I hated it.
I think Streamer is far best bass in W line ( though I havent tried all of their basses ) when listening to Stuart Zender thats obvious!!!

my 88 THumb NT (bubinga/wenge neck) with the EMGs. Growl heaven. actually i feel like the best combo is the wenge/ bubinga neck for great growl

Yeah, the Dolphins are also growly. Listen to Rickey Kinchen and Mint Condidtion.

My 2001 Thumb 5 BO lives in Growl City!! Even more so since I had the MEC preamp repalced with a 3-band EMG preamp with sweepable mid!!!!

Thumb - WITH MECS. I've had a Thumb with other pickups - no good. The MECS are part of the magic. The Thumb is the growliest bass on the planet. Dolphin also.

Fender comes in second...but it's a different growl. Warwick is angrier.

Bolt has more bark, N/T more sustain.

According to the things i´ve read so far in this thread, it seems that most Warwicks are indeed GROWLY!!!.....i´ll settle with that.

It's all in the wenge fingerboard combined with a good preamp. I prefer it with a Basslines setup.

I've had more Warwicks than I can count. The formula for that "Warwick Growl," to me, seems to be a bubinga body, wenge neck, wenge fingerboard, MEC active J/J's, and a bright-sounding set of strings.

Every Warwick I've ever tried/owned has had tons of growl, just growl of various flavors depending on the bass in question. It's just a matter of trying out the different models to see which tone you like. My Thumb 5 BO and SSII both growl, yet have distinctly different tones, for example. I've found that fairly new strings is the biggest factor in bringing out the growl.

I have 2X LX5s with MEC Js and they both have great Fender-esque growl.
