White Noise from GK Neo 112?

I just picked up a Markbass LMIII and a GK Neo 112 and there is some barely audible white noise coming from the cab. It gets more pronounced when I turn the gain on the amp up.

I hooked up a guitar amp to the speaker and I could still hear the same white noise so I'm thinking it's something other than the amp perhaps. I'm still trouble shooting.

I'm using a Tephra speaker cable (8-conductor, 13 AWG) from the 1/4" out to the 1/4" in of the cab until I pick up a speakon. The cable is new and I know it works fine.

Could the fact that I'm not using a speakon be the issue?

No, the noise you hear is what the horn in the NEO cab is being sent to reproduce. You can use the level control on the cab to "tune out" the hiss or set the cab to Bi-amp and the horn will be shut off.
Horns are MUCH more efficient at reproducing high frequency sounds than cone woofers. You are hearing what the amps are sending to the cab. :)
