Thanks. I have a thing for blocked and bounds as well. I swapped out the white pearloid PG and added a tort one instead.

So maybe I am partial to white basses...

For whatever reason, I just cannot STAND black bodies with white pickguards. It just looks so... BORING! White with a black pickguard however? drool

I own two black basses, and one white...

You can go longer between detailing on a white bass. Smudges arent as noticeable. A black finish shows everything fairly immediately.

My black rickenbacker with the white trim looks very classic and timeless, great contrast, think a tuxedo.

My black P bass with a hand cut and tarnished brass pick guard and black hardware looks a bit steampunk/bad@$$.

The white P/J with tort and rosewood is a gorgeous combination, but not for everyone, i find it preferable to white with a black pick guard.

Cliff notes: Just get both.

Funny because I have experienced just the opposite

I usually think black works better, but I have a new '15 MIA J in white that just got delivered today. To say the least, I am VERY excited!

I think I like brighter colors for instruments always, otherwise I feel like it's just hiding in the background. I think it's better to stand out not fade into the background of the stage IMHO.

I don't wear white shirts because they stain too easily. So a black bass on top of a black shirt is just too much black.

I get this,yes. White shirts in a sweaty hot environment? No, I don't think so. I side with the idea that I don't want to look like everyone else, yet not be as extreme as someone like Flea.

It's neither for me. I like the bass when I see it, color isn't what I look for.

I have one white Precision and one black Precision and two black Jazz basses. The other fourteen basses are a mix of reds, blues, naturals, bursts and a Seafoam Pearl.

I've owned one black bass out of all the basses I've ever owned and I hated it. I like black everything. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, shirts, shoes, hats, ect. But, for some reason I've never liked black basses or guitars.

Two really nice Fenders you have there. I'm a big fan of matching headstocks and I'm putting together a white PJ with a similar neck...white blocks and binding look great together...but I'm going gold hardware and gold mirror pickguard.

Uhmmm....lets see...I have an Olympic White Jazz bass with white pickguard, white stratocaster-style knobs, white Jazz pickups, and white leather strap...Hmmm...I'd say white!

And I wish I could order a pre-aged Oly White (and tort!) Pbass, because I think that not-quite-yellow is the bomb! Different strokes...

Hmm...my late 1977/early '78 Olympic Jazz Bass is still pretty white. Was never a stark white - pickguard was always whiter, but Bass is not really very yellow yet and it's almost 40-years old.

I prefer natural but do have a (matte) black bass, so black it is. Can't see myself playing a white bass, now that I think about it.

The real answer is black (but I much prefer a maple fretboard on it). I haven't found a white bass I could really love yet.
