Pearl, the Japanese company well known for their drums also made Les Paul style basses in the late '70s for the domestic market.

What about a Dean Evo bass? They play pretty well, fairly inexspensive.

If it's in keeping with Dean overall, then it should at the very least be a solid bass - they make some really nice stuff, IMO.

Speaking of Les Paul bass guitars, I am trying to decide on which 3 to pick!

I have a Hofner CT. I will only play short scale. I'm looking for a backup short scale bass guitar and my budget limit is $200.00. Now I do not have a problem finding one that I like, my problem is I've found 3 that I'm looking at and trying to decide on. I'd like to get some input.

I have the LTD in transparent red,nice axe great sound,I dont use mine much but for special events and recording,my midlleaged back prefers the hofners to the LTD, jazz, and Iceman in my collection

Nope, not short scale... just looks that way because the body is ridiculously oversized, so any pic of it makes it look out of proportion. The thing is humungous.
