Who has converted a bass to use flush mount strap-locks?

When I purchased my Warwick '97 Fortress Masterman, it came with flush-mount strap locks. Since then, I purchased a '17 Streamer LX, but it did not have the recessed strap locks.

Who here has converted their non-flush strap locks over to flush mount? I really don't need directions or anything, but just curious as to how many love the recessed locks enough to modify their basses to add them.

I really love that feature. Not sure I will add it to my 3 other basses though.

I have countersunk QR sling locks on a plywood LP Jr. Solid enough for combat.

I had one that had been converted. Worked okay but I probably wouldn’t do it myself. (My favorite setup is the jumbo Dunlop buttons with rubber washers.)

I didn’t know this was a thing, but now I’m intrigued. I had a Warwick Rockbass and the locking system felt almost as long as a cello spike.

I put flush mounts on the back of a Thunderbird.

I just leave a strap attached to each bass with the rubber washers keeping everything in place. Used to be you could get them off of European beer bottles, but they seem to have found a way to permanently attach them to the stoppers. At least the German ones anyways.

I flush mounted three basses so far. I will end up having them on all of my basses eventually.

I flush mount all mine, but only on the bridge side. I leave the horn alone because it's tough to get right. (Messed up one horn and decided that it wasn't worth it.) I do the bridge side because I loop my cord between the strap and body. With it flush, it holds my cord in place.

For flush mounting use the straplocks that are specifically designed to be flush mounted - not the standard straplock.

that’s not the right piece for flush mount. If that’s what you used on the messed up one it makes sense that it didn’t work out. You need this.

I have done the dunlop flush mount, have them on both my customs as well. Great design, very clean. Recently I am a dual design convert. You can use the dunlop strap lock or a regular strap. It's nice. But nothing looks more clean than a flush mount.

Bought a new bass that had them already installed as part of the feature set. Dug the way it looked. Great.

Then one night . . . . . I somehow forgot to take the strap. Got to the gig. Nobody else's spare strap would work, nothing to hook onto.

My first and last one with flush-mounts.

Yeah, Grolsch washers don’t come off. You can buy the washers at a brewing supply shop.

I wouldn’t say it’s an upgrade. Personal preference maybe. One of my basses has them flush mounted and the rest don’t. Meh.
