Who has only one bass?

EB MM StingRay 5 w/single H
It is just for economic reasons that I only have one bass.
I'd like to try out a bunch of different basses and just keep the few that really work for me, but probably not less than two basses.

I only have this one:
It's an Ibanez BTB with a set of SGD Sidewinders and a Nordstrand MM installed, and it also has an Audere 3ZB installed. Using just the Sidewinders I A/B'd it against an MIA Jazz and an MIA Stingray and was easily able to cop tones very similar to both basses. With the EQ set flat the Sidewinders sounded just like the MIA Jazz. I just needed to boost the upper and lower mids to get a tone very close to the Stingray.
I find that the Sidewinders paired sound too much like the MM, so I'll be putting an SGD Neo MM in place of the Nordy MM soon. Then I should be able to get a credible P-Bass tone out of this bass.

Yes, I only have one bass.... well kind of....
3 yrs ago I bought a Squier MB4 (no skull ver) off of CL for $75 to start playing. (Not even worth showing)
Eventually, I scored this from CL (MIM P)...
My son wanted to play bass in the school band, and wanted to keep a bass at school: so I gave him my Squier to keep in school.
Then, I scored this (MIA P) and gave my son my MIM P
I love this bass, and it has cured me of all GAS.... I am amazed that I am absent of GAS; even when I walk into a music store and pick up a Ric (the bass of my childhood dreams), I can say no, and walk away with no regret. I just haven't found anything that comes close to feeling and sound of my MIA P. It's been over a year now, and I just don't have a burning desire for another bass. I think I'm cured...
Well, almost: I'm in the middle of building a Jazz from parts because I'm curious to see how a Jazz would fit into my playing (and I enjoy the hunt for good inexpensive parts to put together). But it's hard for me to imagine that I will like it more than my MIA P.
So, my answer is: I have only one bass.... for now.

Dean Zone XM ... Cheap ... all I could afford and the 100 bucks i spent on it was difficult to get that saved up.
I don't care about scratches and dings ... but i take care of my strings(use alcohol wipes to clean), fingerboard (Gerlitz GGH Guitar Honey Fingerboard Treatment
), and check my nut and, electronic solder points ... monthly
that being said... im shopping for a new bass ... the plastic nut is getting kind of loose, the 11th fret is high and needs to be filed down, and i've found that the neck is kind of thin for my liking .... the bill to get a new nut and level the frets is much more than the bass originaly cost... Essex here i come!

Warwick doublebuck corvette. I use to have a fairlane Greg Bennett before but I lent that to my friend. 
Only one. Squier CV-P. Since it's a P, and P's do it all, there's no need for another. Right?
Seriously, I can only practice with one at a time, and this one sounds phenomenal for the type of music I play (classic rock). I may one day want another, but for now...

Just my old faithful Squire P, the only one I've ever owned. However, I have 4 guitars but have never played guitar in a band, nor am I really good enough to do so (at least not in any band I'd want to be in ...). Weird.
1 bass only.
But not because I only want 1! It's a money thing...
My current bass (my 1st bass ever) surely does not fulfill my needs, and it was very cheap, so I need at least another one. But I don't want to get rid of this one, ever, so once I have the money I absolutely wont be a "1bass only guy"
(unless I just put it on the wall like the other guy, and it doesn't count
)

I like the concept!
I don't "need " more than one but I am thankful that I can putter around with a few. Sometimes I think a new bass provides me with inspiration to keep trudging on, sometimes I think that's lame. LOL
I like having a Jazz because it seems I always choose it because it always works for me whatever the gig, but then I pick up my Precision one day or fretless and am so glad I have them too..

In 20 years + playing bass I've never owned more than one bass. It just doesn't seem right to me to play anything but my '68 Jazz.
That said, I'd love to get one of those CV Squiers for a back up, I dig 'em!

I have just my Warwick double buck. Its not that I only want 1 bass its just I cant afford them =D
I HAD one, not counting my original short scale Squier that's in rough shape, and then I found this site ....
Soon my Ibanez SR500 had upgraded pickups, a fretless Peavey Foundation and just recently an Ibanez GSR206 with upgraded pre and machineheads to keep it company. All in the span of about 8 or 9 months :scowl:

One has done it for me before, and could satisfy me even after 40 years of either a P or a J. I now keep both as an alternative to the other, but tend to play one or the other for a couple months at a time. I usually only take one to a gig, but both to a studio (one fitted with flats) so I can cover all contingencies. I believe those with custom made basses could/should fare well with only one......but I also understand how we all can be 
How about we add on to the original query of the OP by asking if you could have any one (& only one) bass what would you choose?
Personally, I'd probably choose between a Fender Roscoe Beck V or a Tobias Killer B 5.
