Who here longboards?

I do and I love it. I've got a carve stick right now, whcih I love, but I am going to need more of a commuter than a straight up carver, so I think I'm going to replace it with a S9 Trylam.

I do, when I can. Got one from the wall at Pacific Sunwear when they redecorated, got it for like 1/3 the original price...not the best board, but's pretty sweet to ride.

I make attempts on both water and asphalt...am terrible at surfing, but it's loads of fun anyhow. The whole sideways thing throws me off since I'm used to bike riding and skiing.
A few of my friends do, it seems pretty cool, I had some really nice videos, but when my computer died I lost them.
I want to learn how to surf. I use a sidewalk surfboard. A 60" behemoth. I love it.

I started about 3 years ago. Ride a 40-something inch Sector (. Started making my own decks last year, and this year want to get myself a pintail board.

I do. I have a Stewart 9'0" hydro-hull. I have a "fun board" 7'0" Yater also, but mostly I short board. Here a list of my "quiver."
6'4" Al Merrick "Flyer II" (baby swallow tail)
6'6" Chas Custom (baby swallow tail)
6'10" Chas Custom (exact same dimensions as my 6'6" but in scale for the 6"10" - this board is such a fun board in overhead to 2-3 feet overhead surf) (baby swallow tail)
6'10" Baltierra baby swallow tail - I airbrushed the bottom of this board too. It's a double stringer that extends from the nose to the tips of the swallow tail.
7'2" Blake gun (I should probably rack this since it has a crease in it - additionally Blake Case OD'd so there will be no more boards shaped by him)
7"6" Blake gun (this board can handle everything from 10-12 uluwatu to 15-20ft Black Beach in SD)
I'm heading down this week to put a deposit down on a Lost custom fish and I'll be getting another Chas shaped within the month too. Got the blessing from the wife. She surfs too so it's all good.
EDIT - Oh yeah, I have a Sector Nine longboard skateboard too (got it for free from a buddy of mine who reps them) but skateboarding is a totally different story from surfing.

Since apparently no one has mentionned what wheels and trucks they use, I'll start... (edit: actually, just noticed this isn't true...)

Skating
I was gonna say, I have my whole lineup written up (wheels, trucks, even down to the grip tape)
LOL. My bad. Ok I have a sector 9 and my buddies and I used to cruise through Aliso Viejo on carve boards because all of the streets are smooth "mac" and long undulating hills. Some runs are 3-4 miles long. We alternate who has to drive the van to run interference for traffic coming up behind us. When we reach the bottom we drive to the top again. Tons of fun.
That sounds awesome, it's the ideal longboarding situation in my mind. The main reasons I don't do it more often are because there's a lot of rough pavement around here or back at home, and lots of steep scary hills without good runouts (I really have no idea how to stop yet, short of bailing). I like long, gradual hills that I can just relax and cruise down, no high speed bombing...
My board is a stock Sector 9 El Camino pintail, probably 48" or so. It should keep me happy for a long time at this rate.
Yeah, sectors can still get the wobble on. But carve boards are good. We used to bomb hills with helmets and pads too though. I'm in the same boat, although, I learned how to work steep hills, just like snowboarding. Once I got out of control because a car was coming and bailed into the curve, and did a full on superman flying sommersault launding and rolled all the way down an embankment of iceplants. I was so lucky I didn't impale myself on any sprinkler heads.
