To me:
It's easier to control, goes faster, easier to ride, smoother ride and can handle rockier surfaces.
I'm asking this with absolutely no disrespect intended, but what's the point of those types of skateboards (longboards)?
I skated in the 80's (Vision Gator), but I wasn't into pools or half-pipes. I just used the thing to get around.. I'm used to the old, wide, fishtail designs (I got on one of those new fangled tiny things you kids call skateboards today and damn near killed myself since there was hardly anything to stand on..)
I'm just wondering what advantage a board like that gives you..

7'2" Blake gun (I should probably rack this since it has a crease in it - additionally Blake Case OD'd so there will be no more boards shaped by him)
