Heh, I think I could do it. I would just suck it up for as long as possible, count all the money I earn as savings. And be gone in the wind, I'm sure I would never be acknowledged. Now if I was acknowledged as "justin biebers' bass player" I would simply respond... na not me! Must be some other guy!"
He may refuse at the price offered - but for an insane amount any bassist would, with the obvious exception of people not motivated by money.
Come to think of it, Clef_de_fa may very well be one of those people.
I guess we'll never know unless an offer is made.
Id play for him. Id meet tons of hot chicks, especially those freaky single mom types, in every city IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. It would be like living a dream.
Yep, I'm on of those person. Accepting a gig just because the money is insane is like ... selling my soul to the devil because I don't like the music which could end up being a a lethal poison
I remember an interview with Britney Spears' bass player and he said something that made sense to me. To paraphrase, "people might give me crap about taking the gig, but love them or not, my wallet isn't getting thinner"
And that made sense to me. Playing bass for Justin Beiber or lady gaga or Madonna or any pop sensation du jour might not be a terribly artistically satisfying gig, but if I got the gig, I'd look at it as a resume builder, a networking opportunity and getting a paycheck making music.

If you were careful not to cause a fuss (I hear that kind of show is generally strict on groupies and drugs - any media attention like that isn't wanted) you might have a great time without getting fired!
Fair enough. I'm not sure how much enthusiasm I could muster. It'd want to be one hell of a paycheck.
And I think a lot of people are missing the fact that pretty much ALL pop gigs are made up of amazing musicians.
All of these great modern "fusion" musicians that we know and love play these pop gigs to make a living.
The result is extremely good pop music with a lot of taste, tone and chops.
Watch THIS and tell me if you would still be unhappy playing this music. For example at 10:45 or 53:30. The band is killing and the arrangements exciting and tons of fun to play.

I would be unhappy playing that. I think I could be convinced for the right amount, but I'm not in line to get an offer like that so I'll likely never find out first hand.
I think the band can play, the dancers can dance etc. etc. however I find the overall show quite dull and very very much not to my taste. The only time I have felt quite so unwell while witnessing a performance was when I caught the last 10 minutes of an avril lavigne gig a few years back. We got good places for the next band - but It was quite horrible to see and hear. It's not for everyone!

That'd be fun to play. Really fun! I don't see how someone could not enjoy playing that. Seems like it has room to spare for almost any genre you want to insert, so long as its coherent with the other musicians.
I was recently in Chicago on a business trip, and as i usually do, went to my favorite (small) jazz club. The group was great and the bass player was incredible. He was introduced as JB's current bass player and I don't recall his name...didn't know I would need to. The dude was great. One of those nights that really inspires.
Gotta say I'm kinda perplexed by some of the responses here. I was happy for the guy. He has obviously paid his dues and deserves a great paying gig. He was awesome and having a blast!

I know Bieber sucks terribly but tried to open this with an open mind... Went to these parts of the video and listened a good while. I can find something I like in almost any genre but that is just a whole other level of awful. I'd take any day job with terrible pay than that. I'd take unemployment and welfare if my country had any than that. Its not my thing but I can definitely groove to michael jackson, stevie wonder and other pop greats but Bieber and the like are just a disappointment in music as an art form.
I thought The Beib was a track act honestly. I think for the gig all you'd have to do is look good and stand there acting like you are playing. If you were to hold a gun to Beibers head and say, "Sing 'Baby' in tune" his brains would be splattered by the time he got to -by.

Britney Spears should be a Back up dancer etc. They should be where their talents lie not behind a microphone.
I saw Netflix that you can get music instructional videos. For me it's like try before you buy. I saw that Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson have a vocal instructional video. Randy Jackson is a great Bass Player not a singer and I saw an interview with Neil Stubenhaus where he talked about Paula Abdul having to record 2 words at a time. To me this pair has no business releasing a vocal instructional video.

id bet most of you who say you wouldnt play with beiber couldnt even come close to being able to pull the gig off.
