MIM Jazz 5 string---G-K Fusion 550----G-K NEO 412. Don't need no stinking pedals, tuner out on Fusion does get used.
Don't really see the big deal.
I play in 3 bands regularly. 2 I use a 4 pedal board.
The other I usually go straight in

For me after doing the rounds of OD pedals for a while my favourite sound comes from either my Fender Prophecy or '78 P straight into Ashdown ABM 500 EVO III and ABM 610. The Ashdown took some time to produce the sound I wanted, and to be honest the basses I was using for a while I think were actually the problem.
I love the way the ABM 500 stays fairly clean (I crank the drive control to around 3pm) with laid back playing but when you start hitting the strings with a pick the tubes start to overdrive in a very nice way.
I like the 610 as it isn't port nor does it have a tweeter, but it can get a modern rock tone.

Those MM cabs sound great. Wish they were a little lighter, though.

I absolutely hate eefects on bass. I run Spector basses through an Ampeg SVT 6 Pro, 2 SVT410HE cabs. I use a Sennheiser wireless and nothing else.

Fender '62 reissue p bass or Fender '78 p bass into Mesa MPulse 360 and Mesa 410 Powerhouse cab. Sounds great and never had any issues in over 9 years. Mesa Boogie bass amps are really underrated IMO.

That's a good sounding rig you got. I checked out your website... sounding good man.
When I do upright only gigs, I'll run an Upton Hawkes into one of my Ampegs...tomorrow it'll be a BA108 practice amp. But I cut my effects way down for electric and now I'm only using a VT Deluxe, but after this thread I think I'm going to start using some more. All it did was remind me how much I like effects

Probably one of the most true posts ever. There is a big gap between TB reality and the real world.
I go bass to amp. I use the tuner out.
I've recently been playing without any effects at all a little bit, as rodl2005 was saying (on Facebook) it's good to do now and again as it allows you to see if any of your pedals are sucking tone. It also always surprises me a little bit as to how good it does sound with no pedals.
