Who plugs straight in? What do you use?

Probably one of the most true posts ever. There is a big gap between TB reality and the real world.

I don't know...I see plenty of people on here who don't use effects. I'd say they grossly outnumber those who use them on here, too.

EBMM Big Al -> Ampeg SVT 7 Pro -> Schoeder 115L times 2

P bass -> '73 Ampeg SVT -> Ampeg 810.

Depends on my mood. No effects needed.

I rarely use any effects. I plug directly into my GK 200 MB with Upright and Electric Bass.
At Church I use the Platinum Pro as direct box to go into the house sound system.
Once every 5 or 10 gigs I use the built in chorus on the GK amp. Always liked that effect, but rarely have the chance to use it.

From which ever of my basses I've chosen for the gig I plug directly into my TE AH350SMX w/ TE 2X10 and/or TE 1X15, can never remember the model numbers.

I also plug in direct to my GK MB150E if it's a small room.

Main rig - custom made 5 string P/MM active bass with on-board East preamp --> normal input on Ampeg SVT-VR tube amp--> Bergantino NV610. I use the line out on the back of the ampeg to connect to the tuner. No pedals needed on this monster! Backup bass is Squier Jazz 5 passive, for when ya just gotta have that passive jazz sound.

Backup rig - same basses into a tuner then a tech 21 VT pedal --> Thunderfunk SS amp --> Bergantino HT-322 cab.

Practice rig - same basses and many more into a tuner then a digitec modeling pedal then an Ampeg BA115 SS combo.

You may be right. I guess I was speaking more generally about TB vs the "real" world.

I have 2 bands. One is a funk band, and I use effects.

The other is more melodic fretless stuff.
Zon bass=>GB Streamliner 900=>LDS 15/6/1 (or BFM Omni 10). Pure sonic bliss

I usually use my friend's VM Jazz but I just picked up a VM Jag today I run that straight into my GK2000RB or 400RB and my GK Neo 412. Never used effects, can't see myself ever doing so.

In my classic rock band, it's bass (usually Am Fender Jazz Deluxe FMT V) --> TU3 --> amp (usually Shuttle 9.0 or RH750).

In my acoustic pop trio, it's bass (always Fodera Emperor Deluxe 5) --> TU3 --> Radial J48 --> board --> PA (JBL PRX 612M).

Mine goes - Any number of P basses > Pitchblack > MXR M80 (direct to F.O.H.) > GK MB200 > Yamaha BBT210S (stage monitor)

With one of my bands my only pedal is a tuner.

Bass -> Mesa/Boogie D-180 -> Ampeg SVT-15E is the usual set up. Though occasionally I'll use a Sunn 2000S 2x15 instead of the Ampeg 1x15.

Someone wasn't paying attention.

The blackarts fuzz pedal before the SVT II (Non-Pro) acts as a gain stage on a master volume only amp head. I use a VT pedal in the same way when I need THAT tone at lower volume levels. Otherwise it is 83 MIJ Jazz or 06 MIA P into SVT II into cab/s as dictated by size of gig. Cheers.
