Who plugs straight in? What do you use?

Rickenbacker basses through a 20' cable into:

for rehearsals, jams, and benefits a Fender Rumble 2X10 combo (belonging to the guitarist)

for main gigs my SWR Workingman's 2004 head and 410T cabinet, sometimes plus a Peavey 2X10XT.
With my own rig, I use my volume pedal and pedal board through another 20' cable.
I always use my compressor, but use flange, chorus, and delay occasionally.

I do find the shorter signal path to be clearer, but I don't like using effects loops, since the compressor is a very important component.

I seldom use effects and am meat and potatoes. On most nights I plug either one of three basses directly in to amp/DI: Fender Am. Std Jazz (main bass), Am. Std. Jazz 5 or Am. std. Precision. I used to use my SVT primarily in the past but these days it is in to my LM3 and 15" Cab. My Musicman Sterlings used to see all the work but not so much anymore. I know its not flashy and I have screwed around with effects in the past, but simply plugging in does what is needed for me at least 99% of the time.

MIM Jazz 5 string---G-K Fusion 550----G-K NEO 412. Don't need no stinking pedals, tuner out on Fusion does get used.

MIM Fender P(62 RI p-up strung with Chromes), into G-K Fusion 550 head & G-K 4-12 NEO cab. I don't have an inline tuner, so I use the switch as a standby/mute. I absolutely love this rig!!! I don't like pedals, if it ain't happening straight thru the amp most likely a pedal isn't going to fix it! :bassist:

I plug straight in... no pedals, no tuners, just a cable.

Working backwards:

2 x HT112 Bergantino (a PJ Briefcase for practice)
2 x Live Wire Speaker wires
1 x Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0
1 x Mogami (12ft or 18ft) Gold cable
1 x Stock Fender MIA P Bass (I only have one bass... for now)
4 x TI Flats
9 x Fingers (well, 9 that touch the strings... yes, I thumb anchor)

The weird thing is I like my tone so much that I have absolutely no GAS for any pedals, or another bass. I am building a Jazz right now, more out of curiosity and something to do than a huge burning desire for another bass.

(This said from someone who owns 8 guitars, and countless pickups and amps... weird)
