Who plugs straight in? What do you use?

Fingers.

Roundwounds on:
4 string Dingwall Super P/J
5 string " AB-1
Squier ThunderJag
Squier CV 60's Precision

Flats on:
Ric 4003 (TI's) and Dark Starred Tribute JB-2 (chromes).

Five feet of Canare cable with Switchcraft ends.

Eight ohm 12" Walkabout Scout.

Schecter Raiden 4 > Hartke 5500c > Peavey TVX412

Sounds great. Very deep, thunderous, and growly. Tube preamp section cranked, of course.

If using a pedal, the only one I need is my Behringer V-Tone. It's the same as the Tech-21 VT at a fraction of the cost.

More often than not I plug straight in to a GB Shuttle 3 connected to a 4x10; 1x12 or both depending on my needs (though I thinking of upgrading to a 212 for even more flexibility).

The only pedal I might see myself getting and routinely using is a tuner.

I'm seeing a lot of Fender stuff into Ampeg & Genz. If I was more ambitious I'd run a tape & list them in a chart but I'm lazy & I have work to do. But this is encouraging.

I didn't answer myself: Fender P Special Fretless modded / Standard (M) Jazz > Genz 3.0 > Hartke Transporter 410.

I own a few effects but I'm breaking them off: Rocktron X Tuner (slow, huge footprint--not recommended); Martin preamp--these don't really count as effects; MB Compressore (which I haven't been using); Wooly Mammoth clone (haven't applied it yet); Alesis Wedge (not used but I'm hanging on to it if & when I need it). At the moment I'm working with purity, i.e. tuner & the preamp.

Cat uses an Aria 1931 > that little 2x5" Vox combo.
