Who plugs straight in? What do you use?

"True" is a bit tough, but it's pretty close. FOH might be a bit deeper because of the subs. Stage might be brighter to cut thru. Sounds like a GK should on Stage, maybe more SVT out front. The only reason i use the SansAmp is because the 800RB DI is post eq. I found when I set up the amp for my stage sound, the FOH sounds like crap and vice-versa.

The solution was to use the SansAmp to get a decent tone out front, before the amp. Now I can eq both for the best FOH, and stage sounds.

Spector Euro 4-LX into a Hartke 5500/Hartke 410XL.

For smaller applications, same bass into an SWR Workingman's 10 with a Workingman's 10tx extension cabinet.

Directly from bass to amp. Using only vol & tone on bass or settings on amp. I get a fat, raw tone that I absolutely love.

For practice it's RBX260 > headphone amp > headphones ... Best way to practice IMO.

For rehersal and gigs it's Yamaha RBX 260 p-bass > Line 6 LD300. Having everythign I'll ever need built into the amp is awesome. Makes load in and out easy. Bass, Chord, Amp on Dolly ... one trip load in and out.

right before this it was RBX260 > Tuner > Peavey Combo 300

I use my tone and volume knob on my bass a lot ... i usually get the slight overdrive I need from the amp im using and I'm set.

I don't plan to ever use effects pedals. In fact, as convenient and flexible and reliable as many solid state amps are these days, I still plan to use tubes as I upgrade my system for more volume. But then......I don't care for cranky, twangy, snappy bass noises. I don't play banjo, I play bass. A little snarl can be fun, but mostly I'm after that fat, hollow tone. I plan to get some tube watts and 15" speakers. Go figure......

I like Mogami too--namely the lifetime warranty.
And I like Laklands. Wish I owned one.
