Who runs Bass -> Cable -> Amp ... no effects?

I run straight from bass to amp, generally Fender Marcus Miller IV --> monster bass cable --> Carvin R1000 --> Carvin BR810.

To be fair, I use the 9 band EQ all the time, but I guess that doesn't count, huh...

76 jazz, stock, into Mesa Walkabout Scout combo (I think 12" speaker). For practice I use a Boss looper and a cheapo amp, and the 76 jb still sounds great (maybe because it feels so sweet). In my experience great bass + great amp = great sound.

Yup the only thing I will run between my bass and amp is a loop station, and only occasionally, I play a Warwick Streamer Stage 1 or a Warwick Streamer STD into a ashdown electric blue combo, I use the onboard EQ on my Stage 1 and the amp EQ for my STD, the amp also has a built in compressor that I use slightly on, and a suboctive effect that is fun to play with, but I love the sound of my basses straight in. I play finger funk, jazz and pop mostly but I play pretty much any genre if I can.

I play a wide variety of music. I do not chose the appropriate effect; rather I chose the appropriate bass for the song and the appropraite amp/cabinet for the venue.

I usually never use effects, but when I do, it is either a SansAmp stomp box to boost my tone (especially when borrowing or using someone elses rig) or a boss bass chorus/overdrive pedal combo for distorted heavy songs. If I just need some overdrive for say one section of a song, I'll hook up the footswitch that came with my yorkville and use the built-in tube drive instead (the footswitch runs separately from the bass ---> cable----> amp line

+1. I'm with Ken, though obviously it depends on the genres of music you play.

My most common rigs are: a USA Fender Jazz or Precision bass, 4 or 5 strings, into either an Acoustic Image head with an Acme cab or into an Alembic F-1X preamp, Crest LT series power amp and a Bergantino HT210/HT/115 cab stack. I have a tuner in my rack, but keep it out of the signal chain.

I run my like:

Bass --> Amp --> Cab

at 99% of the time.

I do use effects but that is rarely. I only use effects when jamming and making up some funky groove.

I only bring out the pedal board and stick those in between the amp and bass is when i do need them in certain songs, if i don't need it for the whole night. Then i just run it off the amp directly.

I'm with KJung, makes me cringe. I can hear the loss. Tuner out of a pre into my Boss tuner works great. If I do effects I run them through a Raven Labs MDB-1 side chained or most frequently into a separate amp driven by a line out. I suffer no loss. Bass tone is too precious to lose. To good not to hear. Too effective on audiences to diminish.

99% of the time I play:
bass-cable-amp-cable-cabinet, using a mix & match of Glock HeartCore, Shuttle 6.0, Accugroove Tri-115, or either of the original (or both) Berg HT/Ex-12's.

I've been playing with a volume pedal, EBS MultiComp and UniChorus. Tuner always goes in the tuner out.
