Who runs Bass -> Cable -> Amp ... no effects?

Another one here for bass>cord>amp. For theatre work, though, I'll run a pedal tuner and an old-school volume pedal through the effects loop.

Only rarely when the mood strikes with the fretless I'll use a little Chorus.

What is the difference/ benefit of running effects through an effects loop rather than before you get to the amp?

I think the effects loop sometimes bypasses the signal processing built into your amp which for certain effects MAY be useful

2 Basses (one with flats, the other with rounds) -> ToneBone -> EBS MultiComp in the TB effects loop - > GK700RBII.

I don't like the MultiComp in the effects loop of the head. That, and the fact that the tube sim mode on the MultiComp is the bomb! I don't really use it as an effect, as it's always on. My tuner runs thru the tuner out in either the TB or the GK.

Fender Jazz Bass > Ibanez Gold series cable > Head > Cab

I run:

5st bass >> X2 wireless >> Demeter preamp >> QSC power amp >> Schroeder cab(s).

Does that count? No effects at all. Never have really. Tried a couple of nice compressors off and on, but always took them out. Tuner gets a send from the preamp.
